1-2 for McLaren at Brazil but……….

Great results for McLaren at Brazil but taken their 1-2 finish in 5 years since Mika Hakinen & David Coultard did it 5 years ago. This round with Montoya taken the chequed Flag and Raikkonen followed behind.

As expected, Raikkonen lost the title chase to Alonso who was crowned the driver championship in Brazil. A good driver coupled with extremely reliable car is the key to Renault success this season. Multiple engine failures through the season caused the McLaren dearly.

The 1-2 finish last weekend however put McLaren ahead of Renault by two points in Constructor Title, their first lead in this season. Ron Dennis is pretty confident that no one will be able to touch McLaren’s domainance at this point in time and McLaren will surely claim the Constructor Title.

As a Fan of McLaren, I do hope that their dominance will continue into next season. The FIA rules will change again and the engine will change the V10 to V8 next season in a bid the reduce the speed of F1 cars. I do hope that such changes will not change the McLaren winning formula at the same time. Substantial rules change sometime bring great change to the competitiveness of certain team. Ferrari has worked for the last races and yet still not able to find an answer the new one tyre rule.

Alonso set to take the F1 Driver Title this weekend

Alonso set to create history this weekend as the youngest F1 driver to take the driver title. McLaren need to get 1-2 and Alonso must finished 4th or worst to keep the title dream of McLaren’s Raikkonen alive for another race till Shanghai. This seem quite difficult as McLaren has not secured any 1-2 finish for the last five years.

Nevertheless, Mc Laren has all the reason to continue fighting to secure at least the Constructor Championship this season. The chances is Mc Laren is still be able to catch up.

Web Mail

Gmail by Google is no doubt the best free Web Mail services that you can find in the Internet today. The best feature of Gmail that I like most that Gmail organize mail of same subject in one single thread for easy reading and tracking. Gmail is also extremely fast and refresh by itself to show latest messages that reach your mail box. Spam and Antivirus filter is excellent and with 2.7GB of free space, there is no need to delete any mail. The Gmail in fact does not have any function that allow you to delete your mail. The search function on Gmail is fast and accurate. The label concept is again innovative as it allow the same message to show under different label.

In comparison, Yahoo mail is still offering only 2GB space on paid account. My account which is near to the 2GB limit is just hopeless when performing search. It offer return with error message when your mail box size is big. Yahoo is however working on a new web mail system that will work much faster and we shall wait and see how soon that will be introduced in the paid and free account.

iPod Nano and some interesting quote

Apple Nano was introduced into the market last week and now retail in local store at RM 1216.00 for the 4GB version. The iPod Nono set to replace iPod Mini which is set to be discontinued. Some of the nice quote that read today are:-

Nobody can sustain an 80 percent market share in a consumer electronics business for more than two or three years,” Munster told CNN. “It’s pretty much impossible

Well, he’s right about one thing: Apple’s market share won’t stay at 80 percent. It’s about to go up.

In this case, however, they’ll have a tough time. Want to know what happens when you pit other players against the Nano, mano a mano? You give up, because no other flash player on the market offers anything close to the Nano’s concept or capacity.

Apple has mastered a lesson that its rivals seem unable to absorb: that the three most important features in a personal music player are style, style and style.

The truth is, the iPod has faced stiff competition from some of the industry’s best-known companies since the day it was introduced. Yet even after four years, all of Dell’s horses and all Sony’s men haven’t made a dent in the iPod’s dominance. And with the introduction of gorgeous, functional and elegant iPod Nano, that’s not about to change.

A day to remember for dog owners

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12
——————————————————————————–

The second Sunday of every September will be a day to remember for dog owners.

It was declared as the Malaysia Responsible Dog Ownership (MRDO) Day yesterday.

The first MRDO, organised by Puppy.com.my (Puppycom) and sponsored by Purina PetCare (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd was held at the Central Park, Bandar Utama, yesterday.

Deputy Minister of Information Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai also launched the Puppycom Canine Good Citizen Programme (CGC), a community project to educate dog owners to train their dogs for good behaviour.

He said some of the dog owners are not responsible enough and treat public areas as toilets and let the pets roam free in the neighbourhood.

Also present were Purina PetCare (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd national sales manager Ding Chai Thong and Hileytech Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Khoo Boo Gee.

It attracted some 3,500 dog lovers to the Central Park with their pets to socialise and enjoy the games and demonstration by the K9 Unit of the Customs Department, police and Fire and Services Search and Rescue Team.

There was also an animal show performed by the A’Famosa Resort Group, doggie games, dog agility and obedience demonstration and a vet corner to offer free medical check and advice to owners.

Malaysia Responsible Dog Ownership Day was successfully held on September 11, 2005 at Central Park, Bandar Utama. Report by Star Metro as below:-

Inaugural Dog Ownership Day

Story and photos by CHIN MUI YOON

local authorities have been urged to implement a clear set of common guidelines for dog owners, as the current multiple set of rules and regulations varying between different councils are confusing.

In making the call, Deputy Infor-mation Minister Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai said all these guidelines should be acceptable and carefully thought-through before they were implemented.

“Often, a council’s rules and regulations are made by officers sitting inside their offices without a first-hand understanding of what is really happening on the ground.

“This results in the theory and practical aspects of guidelines being very different from one place to another,” he said after launching the first Malaysia Dog Ownership Day at the Bandar Utama Central Park on Sunday.

“We are living in a 21st century democratic society in a nation of many faiths and culture. All the people’s rights have to be protected and respected.

“The local councils should hold discussions with pet owners and animal welfare NGOs before coming up with guidelines,” he added.

Lim said a blanket rule governing dog ownership was difficult to implement due to the different development stages in a state or between the states. Currently, the eight local councils in Selangor each has its own set of bylaws governing dog ownership.

Touching on the RM200 fine for owners found guilty of abusing their pets, Lim said the 20-year-old law was outdated and was too small a sum to deter people from committing cruelty to animals.

“Local authorities should come up with an amount that is relevant to the present day,” he said.

Lim also launched the Puppycom Canine Good Citizen Programme (CGC). Also present at the event was puppy.com founder and director Khoo Boo Ghee.

The CGC programme is a community project to train dogs in accordance with international standards such as the American Kennel Club.

The CGC has been implemented in training since 1989 and police and animal control agencies in England, Australia, Japan, Canada and some European countries use the programme in their local communities.

The training programme is open to all dog owners with dogs aged at least three months old that have completed their vaccination.

Dogs that have passed the 10-point test will be given a certificate. The CGC also lays the foundation for other Puppycom activities and training such as obedience and agility.

“We hope dog owners will sign up for the training to ensure they have a well-behaved dog,” said Khoo.

The Malaysia Responsible Dog Ownership Day sponsored by Purina PetCare will now be held every second Sunday in September. Its first event drew over a thousand dog owners with their pets in tow.

The dogs participated in fun games such as a race with their masters called the Fastest Recall contest, Fastest Eating contest and a Dog Rally.

They also got to enjoy hours of socialising. From pretty toy poodles dressed up in lacy frocks to a giant, bear-like Newfoundland, the dogs happily sniffed each other out to make new friends. Some dogs, especially the Golden Retrievers, even went for a swim in the pond.

A thrilling demonstration on dogs‘ intelligence and usefulness was seen when a Labrador and a Golden Retriever from the K9 Unit of the Royal Malaysian Customs efficiently sniffed out smuggled ganja.

The Police K9 Unit also demonstrated their dogs’ ability in crowd control, drug detectioin, agility and obedience.

Finally the Fire and Rescue team demonstrated their dogs’ ability in digging out humans trapped under piles of rubble or in a fire.
